i  about the studio

Ruhiu Studio is my design practice. I’m Kevin Ruhiu, a creative systems designer in Cambridge, Massachusetts. I trained in industrial design, spent three years at Apple’s Genius Bar, and have since built learning and quality systems for Biogen, Vertex, Moderna and Philips, where I lead learning technology for Quality & Compliance. The work is the same at every scale: take something complex and regulated, and make it clear enough that people use it by choice. The studio is where that habit gets its hands dirty — brand identities, print, collage and drawing. A full portfolio is being set in type; until then, here are a few things made by hand.

I design systems that work beautifully and look like they were always meant to be that way.

quadrangles

Forty-six cards cut from topographic maps, drawn over in marker and kept in a graph-paper notebook. Each one takes a survey line, a contour or a field boundary and pushes it until the map turns into a pattern.
